Mobile Technology May Worsen Lifestyles

As mobile technology becomes ingrained in everyday life and culture, mobile workers are struggling to find downtime, suggesting that technology may be adding strain and stress, in addition to increasing productivity.

While many mobile workers appreciate the role that technology plays in their careers, a new global study by iPass uncovered some ways that a mobile lifestyle may erode a person's well-being. Twenty-nine percent of respondents say mobile technology is causing friction in their personal relationships, while an average of 39 percent said they lose sleep by waking up occasionally at night to check their phones -- a percentage that jumps to 55 percent in Asia.
